Zimmerman Properties, LLC, in partnership with Harris County Housing & Community Development (HCHCD), Harris County Housing Finance Corporation (HCHFC), celebrated a new beginning for The Meadowbrook Plaza Apartments.

The Meadowbrook Plaza ApartmentsThanks to this collaboration, Zimmerman Properties will oversee a comprehensive renovation of 220 apartment units at the community, ensuring residents have access to quality housing while preserving the property’s affordability for the long term. The rehabilitation is scheduled to be completed by Spring 2026.

Located at 600 E. Little York Road, The Meadowbrook Plaza Apartments was developed in 1998 using Low-Income Housing Tax Credits. The renovation will address interior and exterior repairs as well as accessibility improvements.

The community consists of 28 one-bedroom units, 120 two-bedroom units, 56 three-bedroom units, and 16 four-bedroom units, all of which will undergo extensive upgrades.

The total development cost for the renovation is $38.1 million. Project funding includes $17.5 million in tax-exempt bonds issued by the HCHFC, which enabled the project to qualify for 4% LIHTC from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, along with $9 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds from HCHCD to support land acquisition and renovation expenses.
