EMLI at Mesa Gardens, a significant new 300-unit multi-family development in east Houston celebrated their groundbreaking January 8,2024. This project will provide modern, energy-efficient housing to local families, with the goal of positively impacting the community for generations.

EMLI at Mesa Gardens is a collaboration between the Harris County Housing and Community Development Department which provided ARPA funding; the Harris County Housing Finance Corporation, the general partner and landowner; Houston Housing Finance Corporation that provided bond funding; East Houston Athletic Club, and AMD Development. Low Income Housing Tax Credit equity and Tax-exempt financing was provided by R4 Capital and R4 Capital Funding. This initiative represents a significant grassroots effort to address housing needs and foster community development in east Harris County.

EMLI at Mesa Gardens will transform a former baseball field into a modern affordable, energy-efficient residential development. The property will feature 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units, designed with luxurious finishes such as quartz countertops, undercounter LED kitchen

lighting, and hard flooring surfaces throughout. The development will be designed to meet Energy Star certifications, ensuring long-term energy efficiency for its residents.

In addition to residential units, the development will include a large clubhouse and community facilities to support local enrichment programs. These spaces are designed to continue the legacy of the site’s previous role as a community gathering point, bringing neighbors together in meaningful ways.
